ALAMEDA COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY ENDORSES DENNIS HAYASHI FOR JUDGE
The Alameda County Democratic Party announced their support of Dennis Hayashi for Superior Court Judge of Alameda County, as he garnered over 70% of the votes cast by delegates at the party’s recent endorsement meeting. The Alameda County Democratic Party joins a number of state and local elected officials, judges, associations and advocacy groups that support Dennis, including State Treasurer Bill Lockyer, Alameda County Undersheriff Richard Lucia, the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of Alameda County, the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association, Hayward Firefighters Local 1909, and Crime Victims United.

DENNIS HAYASHI TO RUN FOR
SUPERIOR COURT JUDGE OF ALAMEDA COUNTY
CASTRO VALLEY, CA - Dennis Hayashi has declared that he will run for Superior Court Judge of Alameda County, District 9. Already, he has secured the endorsements of a number of state and local elected officials, judges, associations and advocacy groups, including State Treasurer Bill Lockyer, Alameda County Undersheriff Richard Lucia, the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of Alameda County, the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association, Hayward Firefighters Local 1909, and Crime Victims United.
“My commitment to public service leads me to seek the election for Judge of the Alameda County Superior Court,” stated Hayashi. “As a judge, I will be dedicated to maintaining the highest ethical standards of judicial service, where judges remain impartial and render decisions that are fair and free of bias.”
Dennis Hayashi has had a lifelong commitment to public service, providing leadership in the legal community for over 30 years. Appointed by President Clinton in 1993, Dennis served as the Director of the Office for Civil Rights in Washington D.C. for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where he was responsible for ensuring that programs and activities receiving funds from the Department were in compliance with all civil rights laws. For five years, Dennis also served as the Director of the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing. In 2005, Dennis was elected to the Board of AC Transit where he worked to ensure affordable transportation to all residents of Alameda County.
In November 2006, Dennis ran for another open Superior Court Judge position. During this campaign, Dennis garnered the most votes in the primary as he was endorsed by the Sierra Club, the League of Conservation Voters, and the Alameda County Democratic Party; however, he came in second place by a margin of only 2% in the general election.
A graduate of Occidental College with a JD from Hastings College of Law, Dennis continues to work in public interest law. He lives in Castro Valley with his wife Mary, who serves as the Assemblymember for District 18.
